Chinese Chicken Drumsticks



I’ve always been a big fan of food you can eat with your hands.

Cutting out the middle-man so to speak.

I also very much enjoy sprinkling sesame seeds EVERYWHERE.

So these drumsticks and I are a match made in heaven. They’re especially good for parties this festive season, because they can be easily prepared in advance, don’t require much attention when cooking, and taste great whether eaten hot or old. Cold allows for faster gluttony, though.

Another life motto.


Ingredients
  • 1 kg chicken drumsticks (I just bought frozen and defrosted during the day)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice


Method

Preheat oven to 220 degrees

Place the chicken on a roasting tray and sprinkle sesame oil over the top, shaking to coat.
Roast for 15 minutes.



While that is happening, prepare the sauce. Combine the soy sauce, honey, and Chinese five spice in a small bowl and stir to combine.

Remove the chicken drumsticks from the oven and pour over the honey mixture.



Shake to coat and place back in the oven for 15 more minutes.

They should be golden and sticky, with crispy skin.


Sprinkle over the sesame seeds and serve when slightly cooled.
